What do we do now?

Where do you start? Everyone is asking questions about the date, location, dress etc.. argh!

Take a deep breath, block out time in your diary (quiet evening, bottle of wine), and sit down together with your fiance to work out if you actually want the same thing.

  • Is it church or civil, beach or garden?

  • How do you want people to remember your wedding? Fun, glamorous, romantic, funky, different, traditional?

  • Morning or afternoon?

  • Big (100+) , medium (50 - 100) or intimate (20+)?

If you are coming up with different ideas, then listen to each others reasons behind each choice made and then, as with all good marriages...... compromise.

I believe that organising a wedding is natures way of testing a relationship. It's a bit like 9 months of pregnancy, it can give you sleepless nights and indigestion, but by talking things through and asking people for help along the way, it can be really exciting and incredibly satisfying to see the beautiful end result.

So, get started, start planning, and remember..... have fun!

You are engaged!

First off....Congratulations! Life has a few momentous moments that stay with you forever, and meeting the person of your dreams who feels the same way about you as you feel about them, is a pretty momentous moment. So, after you get engaged, and before you start planning the wedding, my advice to you, would be to take a deep breath and "Enjoy it". Here are some tips for the first 2 weeks of your engagement;

  • Tell everyone you meet that you have just got engaged, people love to hear a happy story, especially a romantic one, (obviously, stopping random people is a little strange but if it feels right, then go with it).

  • Constantly refer to your partner as your "Fiance" (this word can only be used for a short time so make the most of it).

  • Celebrate the event! It doesn't have to be a big party, just a get together with a few friends or family is all you need to put you in the mood to organise the day.

  • And lastly, remember all of the reasons you "asked" or said "yes", because it is those reasons that will get you through the rest of your married life together.

So enough from me, get on enjoying the new chapter of your life and keep checking in for more tips, ideas and stories on how to get from engaged to being married!
